The Buck O’Neil Bridge is an aging piece of Kansas City infrastructure slated for demolition. MCLV created conceptual imagery to help reimagine an alternative future for the bridge and contribute to ongoing efforts by city and community leadership to save the structure for public use. An elevated public space with opportunities for relaxation, food, recreation, and fitness all embody the legacy of one of Kansas City’s most iconic sports and community heroes: Buck O’Neil. The bridge has the potential to connect pedestrians and cyclists from the vibrant River Market neighborhood across the Missouri River to the north bank and future recreational trails. Visitors are treated to sweeping views of the River and Downtown, instantly making the elevated park a top destination in Kansas City.
