CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART MAINTENANCE FACILITY

This was the first in a series of projects implemented as part of a larger landscape master plan for Rockefeller Park. The existing grounds maintenance facility within the park was relocated adjacent to the Museum of Art to enable the restoration of Doan Brook. The new facility takes advantage of natural topography, burying itself into the slope to conceal the structure from the museum galleries above. Native grass species cover the roof to create a soft visual effect and provide a backdrop for the prominent museum facade. A sweeping precast concrete roofline is the single flourish of this simple structure.

Work completed at Sasaki while Kevin Cunningham was employed as a landscape architect.
