GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY MASTER PLAN

Georgetown University undertook a significant master planning process over three years to address short and long term goals. The initial challenge was a housing and student life study to locate a new residence hall as part of the university’s agreement with the Georgetown neighborhood to house 90% of undergraduates on campus by 2017. After completion of the residence hall in 2016, the master plan explored opportunities to expand academic capacity on their compact urban campus. Further studies included a major new quadrangle adjacent to a future surgical pavilion at the academic medical center, the regeneration of the historic Healy/Copley Lawn, the future expansion of the Downtown Campus in D.C., and a detailed study of a rejuvenated Leavey Student Center. The process concluded with the 2017 Campus Plan, approved by the Georgetown Community Partnership.
